This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Drop the PDF of scanned spreads, or of A3 sheets, onto the box.
- Choose how to cut: into left and right halves for a book spread, top and bottom for a sheet folded the other way, or four quarters.
- Choose the reading order — the right page first for Japanese books read from the right — and keep the first page whole if it is a cover scanned on its own.
- Select Split pages and download the PDF, now with one page per half.
Frequently asked questions
- Does it lower the quality?
- No. Nothing is re-rendered: each half is the original page shown through a window of half its size, so text stays text and a scan keeps every pixel it had.
- Is the other half removed from the file?
- No, and this matters if you share the result. Each new page shows only its half, but the whole original page is still inside the file, where a PDF editor can bring it back. To take something out for good, use the redaction tool instead.
- My scan is not centred. Can I move the cut?
- The cut is always at the exact middle of the page. If the spread sits off-centre in the scan, crop the PDF first so the fold is in the middle, then split it.
- The pages come out in the wrong order.
- Switch the reading order. A book written left to right has its first page on the left of each spread; a Japanese book read from the right has it on the right. If the first page was scanned alone, keep it whole so the rest pair up correctly.
- Is the PDF uploaded, and what are the free limits?
- It is not uploaded: the pages are cut in this page. The free plan takes one PDF of up to 20 MB per run, 10 runs a day, and adds a small "Made with nouplo.com" line to the last page. Pro removes the line and the limits.
