How it works
- Choose midsummer (暑中) before the 7th of August, or late summer (残暑) after it — the greeting and the date line both change.
- Keep the usual message or type your own, one line per row.
- Type your name and address at the left.
- Download and print on a plain or a かもめ〜る hagaki.
Frequently asked questions
- When does 暑中 become 残暑?
- At 立秋, around the 7th of August. A card posted after it should say 残暑お見舞い申し上げます, which is the late-summer option here — send one before roughly the end of August.
- Who sends these?
- Traditionally a business to its customers and a person to a teacher, a client or anyone they owe a courtesy to. Between friends it has largely become a holiday postcard, which is fine.
- Can I print it on A4?
- Yes — there is an A4 size, useful for a letter version or for printing four to a sheet and cutting them.
- Which side of the card is this?
- The message side. The address side is a separate sheet — our address printing tool sets the addresses vertically the way Japan Post expects, and you print one side, turn the card over, and print the other.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The card is drawn in your browser.
- Is it free?
- Yes, and this one carries nothing of ours at the foot — it is a card you post to somebody, so it prints exactly as you see it.
